Hand-Harvested Coarse Sicilian Sea Salt — Glass Jar

This is the salt that started it all — our best seller, hand-harvested in the IGP-protected salt pans of Trapani, Sicily, and packed in small batches in a reusable glass jar.

For nearly three thousand years, the people of Trapani have turned Mediterranean seawater into salt using nothing but sun, wind, and hand tools. We bring that same salt straight to your kitchen: no anti-caking agents, no bleaching, no industrial refining. Nothing added, nothing taken away — just pure coarse crystals, naturally containing the minerals the sea left in them: iodine, fluorine, magnesium, and potassium.

The coarse grain is the most versatile cut of salt you can own. Crush a pinch between your fingers over a finished rib eye, roasted vegetables, or fresh seafood and you get a clean burst of flavor with visible crunch. Or use it where coarse salt was born to work: pasta water, soups, stews, and brines. The large crystals are easy to pinch and control, so you season by feel the way cooks have for centuries.

Frequently asked questions

What makes Sicilian sea salt different from regular salt? Most table salt is mined industrially, refined at high heat, and treated with anti-caking agents. Trapani sea salt is evaporated naturally from Mediterranean seawater and harvested by hand, so the crystals keep their natural texture and trace minerals — and the flavor is noticeably cleaner and brighter.

What does IGP mean? IGP (Protected Geographical Indication) is the EU's certification that this salt genuinely comes from Trapani's traditional salt pans and is made by the historic method — not factory salt with a Sicilian label.

Is coarse or fine salt right for me? Coarse is the all-rounder: finishing, pasta water, brines, grinders. Fine dissolves instantly, making it best for baking, sauces, and everyday shaker use. Most of our customers end up with both — that's why we make a two-jar gift set.

What do I do when the jar runs out? Keep the jar — it's made to be refilled. Our 5 oz refill pouch is the same salt at a lower price with less packaging.

Does it make a good gift? It's one of our most-gifted items. A glass jar of hand-harvested Sicilian salt is the kind of gift a cook actually uses every day — and our two-jar gift set makes it effortless.
